Lest We Forget
This Roll of Honour commemorates the men and women of Greater Manchester Police and the earlier constituent forces.
We remember all those who have lost their lives as a result of criminal acts, enemy action, misadventure, accident, natural causes and unknown causes, whilst on duty.

Detective Constable Salthouse was escorting a prisoner from Rochdale to Salford. They were travelling in a police car driven by another officer. As the vehicle was being driven over Slattocks Bridge in Middleton, it failed to straighten on the slight bend and collided with a lamp standard. Detective Constable Salthouse and the prisoner were killed.

On 5th March 2001, Constable Armitage was on duty with a colleague. They were keeping observations on a stolen vehicle, when a youth approached it, entered and started the engine.
