I am very excited about Heritage Open Days today. It’s just over a week until we can open the doors on a Saturday to the public. Heritage Open Days are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and hundreds of institutions up and down the country will be open when normally closed (like us) or offering free admission.
It’s a great cause to get more people involved with their local culture and one we’re proud to get behind. You’re probably wondering why we don’t do this every week, aren’t you? We would love to, but at present the museum has only two members of staff and we rely on the good nature of our fabulous volunteers to support us on open days.
As our volunteer numbers grow hopefully there will be more scope to open on more days. We do have another special Saturday in the pipeline for Christmas, and will be open on Thursdays again over the half term. Make sure you watch this space, as well as our Twitter and Facebook feeds for more updates.
