Robert Campbell
Died on 17th August 1819
Special Constable Campbell, was sworn in as a Special Constable by Magistrates, prior to the formation of the Police Force, to assist in policing a public meeting on Peter’s Fields in Manchester on 16th August 1819.
On the day following the meeting, 17th August 1819,
he was fatally beaten by a mob in Newton Lane, Manchester, in what is thought to be a revenge attack for the previous day’s events – the Peterloo Massacre.
He was Unkown.
