James Bright

Constable Bright was on duty in Bentinck Street, Ashton during a riot by Chartists on 14th August 1848.
Constable Bright was stabbed in the thigh by a man with a pike, and then shot in the chest by a man with a pistol, the chest wound being the cause of his death.
He was 32.
